Sept 30, 2009. Confirmed coaches for the upcoming 09/10 ski season are as follows. Other coaching commitments will follow as we approach the ski season:
Head Coach / Program Director -- Mike Koper
Mike has been with the club for two years now and is demonstrating great leadership. Mike has an extensive background in Alpine Skiing and Racing for some 30 years -- including many years previously with the LLSC.
Junior Coach -- Pierre Luc (PL) Dumoulin
PL joins us from BC where he has most recently worked for the BC Development Team.
K2 Coach -- Jeff Durand & Holly Durand (Jones)
For those of you that were with us in the 07/08 season, you may have met Jeff as the K1 Head Coach or last year with Jeff and Holly as the K2 coaches. Jeff has an extensive 15 year career in alpine ski racing with 6 on the Canada National Team and 2 years of World Cup competition. Jeff has 6 years of coaching experience and is CSCF 1 certified. Holly has 14 years of ski coaching experience (CSCF 3, NCCP 2, CSIA 2, Bachelor's of Physical Education). The club is happy to have Jeff and Holly coaching the K2 group now for a second year.
K1 Coach -- Chris Clifton & Trevor Jensen
Chris was the K1 head coach last year and prior to that came from Sunshine Ski Club where he was the Sunshine K1 head coach. A second K1 coach will be added soon.
KD Coach -- Walter Stutz, Joanna Magee and Amy Sharples
Walter was our KD Head Coach last year and did a fantastic job. Walter has been ski instructing and coaching for 24 years in Calgary (Paskapoo/COP Director), Banff and Australia. He has an extensive career with young skiers and is CSIA 3, CSCF 2, CASI 2, Alpine Official 2 and NCCP Coaching Therory 3 certified. As well as being a certified Ski Instructor in Australia! Walter will be joined by two other very experieced coaches, Joanna Magee and Amy Sharples.
NG Coordinator and Head Coach -- Martha Marpole
The club is very excited to have Martha Marpole join the program as our Nancy Greene head coach. Martha has coached all club levels (NG, K1, K2 and FIS), and even spent a couple of winters coaching in Austria. This will be her 11th consecutive season as a Nancy Greene Program Director in the Bow Valley, during which time she also worked as a course conductor for the Canadian Ski Coaches Federation and the Canadian Ski Instructor's Alliance, and as Club Development Coordinator for the Alberta Alpine Ski Association. She was also involved in the development of the Husky Snow Stars Program used by ski clubs throughout Canada, and also in the development of the AIM 2 Win Long Term Athlete Development Model for alpine skiing.
